RGV Life Podcast #7

Now on Podcast Pickle.

Here is RGV Life Podcast #7. This used a different approach. Instead of making show notes, I used my blog entries from the past few days as reference.

Just a reminder, the RGV Life podcast will be done once a week instead of daily. Blog entries will form the basis of the show. This post was shrunk by audioblog.com from 24 MB to a little over 12 MB.

I was just listening to Podcast #7. I just wanted to tell you that I have never heard Judge Ramon Garcia refer to the County as doing "peachy." The fact that he has publicly stated the county is doing the best it ever has in over 153 (not sure of number) yrs., does not mean he thinks its "peachy" nor that it doesn't need improvement. Why else do you think he is running? It's always to advance the county in all aspects.

I would appreciate if you could point out to where he has stated even a semblance of that.

In addition, you mentioned that you were leaning towards JD because he talks about the healthcare issue. Sure, he's got that in his website and political literature, but all the commercials JD has put out so far are just attacks against Judge Garcia.

I'm sorry. I'll look for the article in The Monitor. He doesn't say things are peachy. I am greatly summarizing Judge Garcia's assessment of Hidalgo County. He is presiding over the biggest budget in the county's history, the emergency fund is loaded, and a list of other stuff that he points to as being signs of his successful tenure.

I don't know anymore about JD.

One thing that did impress me was Ramon Garcia's willingness to come to UTPA to ask for expert assistance in solving some of the county's problems. I read an article on the UTPA website. Good leaders don't pretend to know it all. If they don't know, they find somebody who does.

I'm really making an effort to learn about the candidates and issues to make a good decision. In past elections, I didn't know for whom I was voting (except for President or Governor). The rest I picked on name recognition or because they were republican. Otherwise, I didn't know who they were. This year will be different.

I am willing to be educated.
